The heat treatment of the alloy included annealing, solution heat treatment, and ageing at different temperatures and times. Samples were annealed at 550 °C for 6 h and cooled in air in order to remove asfabricated state. After that, solution heat treatment was done at 550 °C for one hour, followed by quenching in ice water in order to obtain a supersaturated solid solution. Samples were aged after quenching at three different temperatures (160 °C, 230 °C, and 330 °C) for 30 and 60 minutes, respectively. After each step in the heat treatment process, samples were separated and investigated. The investigation of the samples included the measurement of the thermal properties and the microstructural investigation of the aged sample. After the ageing treatment, an initial decrease in thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity was followed by a gradual increase. A microstructural investigation showed the existence of a finely dispersed metastable phase after ageing, causing an increment in thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity values.enEN AW-6082thermal conductivitythermal diffusivitySEM/EDS analysisThe influence of ageing on the thermal properties and microstructure of the EN AW-6082 green aluminium alloyconferenceObject
