Improper disposal of industrial wastewater poses a risk to the environment and human health, as the presence of phenolic compounds, even in low concentrations, can cause a range of harmful effects. In order to protect the environment and preserve human health, it is necessary to remove phenol and its derivatives from industrial wastewater before their release into the environment. Since the use of conventional methods in the treatment of phenolic wastewater is limited by low efficiency and high costs, in recent years there has been an increasing interest in the application of advanced oxidation processes in wastewater treatment. Among the numerous advanced oxidation processes, electrocatalytic oxidation has attracted a lot of attention due to its practicality and high efficiency.
